In 2024, the global number of proton therapy facilities increased by approximately seven, with an additional 30 facilities currently under construction, according to the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG)(1). However, rising construction costs worldwide have become a significant barrier to further expansion.
At B dot Medical, we achieved a major milestone in 2024 with our Shuttle Treatment Table, Throup®(2), receiving regulatory approval under Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act. This marks a step forward in enabling a more profitable proton therapy system. Alongside our Phemto® Proton Irradiation System(3), this integrated solution has been recognized internationally, earning both the iF Design Award 2024 and the Red Dot Design Award 2024.
