Takuji Furukawa

During his studies at Chiba University, he joined the National Institute of Radiological Sciences(NIRS) and has involved in the design, development, and operation of particle therapy systems for over 20 years. He received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for his research on respiratory-gated scanning irradiation technique in 2012. He played a central role in various projects, including the installation of heavy-ion therapy systems in several locations. In 2017, driven by the desire to bring particle beam therapy to more patients, he founded B dot Medical. Visiting professor at Rikkyo University.

Masaru Fujishiro

He worked for a major audit firm for about 18 years, where he was in charge of field responsibility for accounting audits, as well as accounting and tax advisory for domestic and international M&A and corporate reorganizations, and IPO support. Subsequently, he has served in CFO and auditor roles at several companies, including venture companies. At B dot Medical, he utilizes his extensive experience to take charge of everything from the development of financial strategies to their execution.

Atsushi Suzuki

Radiological technologist

He gained clinical experience as a radiological technologist at a university hospital for 10 years. Then using his strength in sales with knowledge from the clinical aspect of radiotherapy, he worked in the field of sales and marketing for major medical systems manufacturers such as GE Healthcare and Accuray Japan for more than 30 years. At B dot Medical, he is the core of the team, focusing on marketing strategy.

Tomohiko Yabu

After extensive work in nuclear equipment design, development, manufacturing, quality control, production management, and procurement at Toshiba, he became General Manager of Keihin Product Operations, Toshiba’s flagship factory. Later, as Chief Production Executive (CPE) at Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, he managed the development and manufacturing of superconducting heavy particle therapy gantries. Leveraging his manufacturing expertise, he leads technical development and manufacturing in B dot Medical to establish high-quality production of the Proton Therapy System and to realize our mission, “PROTON for everyone,” as soon as possible.

Dr. Hideyuki Sakurai

After starting his career as a radiologist, he went on to become a research fellow at the Medical Research Council, University of Cambridge, and an associate professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Gunma University. In 2008, he assumed the position of Professor of Radiation Oncology at Tsukuba University, as well as the Director of the Proton Medical Research Center. In 2015, he became the Vice Hospital Director at Tsukuba University Hospital. He is also a board member of the Japanese Society for Radiation Oncology (JASTRO).

Kenichi Tokunaga

After joining Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in 1976, he primarily worked on the development of new pharmaceutical products and business ventures in the company. In 2009, he assumed the role of Executive Director at Fuji Pharmaceutical Industries, where he played a central role in formulating business strategies. He later served as the Head of Research and Development, followed by a position as a full-time auditor. He also brings experience as a full-time auditor at a biology startup.

Tatsuya Nagase

With a career spanning approximately 30 years at KDDI Corporation, he has gained extensive experience in various fields including general affairs, sales, international operations, planning, overseas subsidiaries, information security, and internal controls. Leveraging his experience as the Head of Internal Controls, he went on to serve as a full-time auditor at a group company. Furthermore, he has held positions as an auditor and a member of the Board of Directors' Audit and Supervisory Committee in multiple companies. Notably, at GeoCode Corporation, he played a role in the preparation for the initial public offering and contributed to its listing on JASDAQ in 2020.

Dr. Hirohiko Tsujii

He has been involved in radiation therapy as a physician for more than 50 years and has been a pioneer in leading particle therapy since its early days. He served as the director of the Proton Medical Research Center at the University of Tsukuba which is Japan's first proton therapy facility, and has since led research on particle therapy at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences. His achievements are highly regarded overseas, and he continues to be active both in Japan and abroad, including serving as president of PTCOG.

Eri Takeshita

Ph.D. in nuclear physics and engaged in basic research at RIKEN after graduating from university. Attracted by the medical application of physics, she joined the National Institute of Radiological Sciences. She has involved in project management for the installation of heavy-ion particle therapy systems as well as technical consulting at several cancer centers. As one of the founding members of B dot Medical, she has been the mainstay of the development.

Naoya Saotome

Since his student days, he has involved in research and development of irradiation technologiesrelated to particle therapy at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences. Believing that research also requires knowledge from clinical practice, he studied radiotherapy at the University of Tokyo Graduate School. Then he obtained his Ph.D. and clinical experience as a medical physicist at a university hospital before joining NIRS. As a founding member of B dot Medical, he brings his medical knowledge and clinical experience to overseas sales efforts.
