New Value Creation by B dot Medical
Proton therapy offers the advantage of minimizing the physical burden on cancer patients, making it easier to balance cancer treatment with everyday life. However, due to the large size and high cost of conventional proton therapy systems, their adoption has been limited to a relatively small number of medical institutions, restricting broader access to this treatment.
B dot Medical’s ultra-compact proton therapy system, Phemto®, eliminates the large rotating mechanism used in conventional proton therapy systems through its proprietary Magnetic Gantry™ technology. This innovation successfully reduces the system’s size to approximately one-third and its cost to about one-half, enabling deployment in hospitals located in both domestic and international urban centers—including Tokyo—as well as in regions expanding their medical infrastructure, where installation was previously burdensome.
By expanding access to proton therapy both in Japan and internationally, B dot Medical aims to realize a society where people can continue working while receiving cancer treatment, thereby contributing to the development of sustainable cities and communities.
