Reasons for Recognition: Three Interconnected Pillars of Multi-layered Resilience Driven by Japan’s Proton Therapy Systems
Conventional proton therapy systems require a massive gantry structure equivalent to a three-story building, creating high barriers to adoption due to required space and costs. B dot Medical has developed “Phemto®,” an ultra-compact system that reduces the gantry height to one-third of conventional systems by utilizing proprietary superconducting magnetic technology.
The award recognizes the following three layers of resilience provided by the introduction of Phemto®:

・Healthcare Resilience: Transforming Advanced Care into Social Infrastructure
Proton therapy allows patients to continue working while undergoing treatment due to its minimal impact on healthy tissues. By enabling the installation of systems in urban centers and regional core hospitals, B dot Medical helps transform advanced care into accessible “social infrastructure,” contributing to reduction of cancer-related job loss.

・Management Resilience: Sustainable Healthcare through Facility Optimization
The compact design of Phemto® allows medical institutions to replace aging radiation therapy equipment without extensive building reconstruction. This effective utilization of existing facilities improves economics of hospital management and supports the sustainable provision of advanced medical services.

・Societal Resilience: Overcoming Vulnerabilities in Japanese Industries and Energy Sectors
B dot Medical aims to leverage its core technologies to ensure treatment continuity during infrastructure disruptions and envisions a future where hospitals serve as “disaster-resilient hubs” for their local communities. This initiative contributes to a resilient society by overcoming vulnerabilities in Japanese industries and energy sectors.

B dot Medical remains committed to advancing medical technology that serves as a foundation for next-generation safety, health, and societal resilience.
